Man dead after street fight in New Westminster

A person has died following an alleged fight on a residential street in New Westminster on Friday evening.

The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) and the Integrated Homicide Investigative Team (IHIT) are investigating the murder. 

In a press release, the NWPD mentioned they acquired a number of calls reporting a bodily altercation between two males in the neighborhood of Bole Street and Maple Street at roughly 9:24 p.m. PT.

Police discovered a person with “significant injuries” upon arrival. 

“The victim was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital where lifesaving interventions continued. However, he did not survive,” reads the assertion.

The incident occurred close to Moody Park. Anyone with data concerning the investigation is requested to name IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448). (Cory Correia/CBC)

Police might nonetheless be seen at the scene on Saturday afternoon. 

A Tweet from IHIT acknowledged that they’ve been deployed to New Westminster and are requesting data. 

IHIT are working in tandem with the NWPD on the investigation. They are in search of witnesses and anybody with data or residential, industrial or sprint cam footage to name 1-877-551-4448.
